We only stayed for the night and the room is basic, it does need a bit of touch up in places but for an old pub rooms its okay. To reach the rooms there are stairs to the back of the property. I found the room quiet even though we were at the front of the property which is by the main road. It is a dog friendly place but I personally couldn’t hear them throughout the night. Breakfast was nice and service was quick. The car park is small so you may need to block someone in and move it later on, but the staff were friendly enough to tell where was best to park so I didn’t block anyone in.

We stayed at the Moon Inn for 1 night with our elderly dog, and found it to be the most dog friendly place we have stayed in! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, our room was extremely clean and nicely furnished, and our wonderful evening meal included the best steak pie we have ever eaten. Thank you Geo for your wonderful pie making skills! Our breakfast was also excellent. We will definately be staying here again.

Had a lovely two day stay at this pub whilst visiting Christmas in the snow
at Chatsworth House..Great location, reasonably priced, warm cosy accommodation with clean rooms. Food excellent served by very friendly professional staff. Special shout out to Emma. She was made for this job..never stopped but was always there for a laugh and a joke. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone staying in a area

Had a meal on a quiet Wednesday evening. The bar staff greeted us on arrival but were then too busy chatting at the bar to take our food order so we had to wait ages.
Our first choice of food has run out and second choices were a bit overpriced for what arrived.
No-one came to check on us during our meal so we had to go to the bar to order additional drinks.
We were encouraged to order dessert but the one we wanted has run out as well.
After a wait we had to go to the bar to settle our bill.
Overall food was good but a bit overpriced and the service was poor. We were nearby for a few days but didn't eat here again.

We didn't stay only ate (and drank). It's not cheap but the quality is good. Not a large menu but something for n everyone centred around pub favourites like burgers and pies. Quite a nice pizza too which was a bit of a surprise. Good choice of beers with some nice local ales on tap. Staff were very friendly, service was great and we were made to feel very welcome.

Food review - Portion sizes are not reflective of cost, £17 for a pie and handful of chips and small dish of veg to share between 3 people.
Quality of food was not great, couldn’t finish the fish mornay as it didn’t taste fresh.
Meat that was served was all chewy.

Tastefully refurbished quite recently and dog friendly. Great food too, what more could you ask for? The staff are lovely and so friendly! There is a £10 supplement if you want your dog to stay with you though. There were steep, outside steps to our room and I'm not sure if any ground floor rooms are available as there is no lift. The whole bar area is wheelchair accessible.
