We were at Piebird for four days in August, and found it to be an enchanting, life-changing experience. The setting is idyllic -- wildflowers, lots of fragrant forest all around, beautifully designed amenities and dark night skies that allow you to marvel at the multitude of stars above. The place is full of warmth and love. It's an animal sanctuary, and all of the animals who live there possess distinctive personalities. They are well cared for and treated as individuals with dignity. If you love animals, this is a place that will develop your understanding. Sherry and Yan are wonderful hosts. We stayed in the Birdhouse Cottage which is equipped with everything you need to be comfortable, including a wood stove for warmth in winter and a splendid library. We can't wait to return.

We rented the beautiful Birdhouse cottage for 3 lovely days/nights with our two children. It is the perfect place to re-connect with your family and enjoy a slow and simple pace. Welcoming hosts Yan and Sherry took the time to introduce us to all the wonderful animal friends living at Piebird, which made the whole experience extra special for us. The cottage was a very clean and comfortable place in which we instantly felt at home. We all fell in love with Piebird Farmstay and were sad to leave yesterday! Definitely planning on returning and HIGHLY recommend a visit here!

The family went the past weekend to Piebird. What an amazing experience. Yan and Sherry were wonderful people and our two kids loved meeting all the friends around the sanctuary. From Bill ,Roy, Acorn,and Laura, there were so many memorable encounters the kids had. The cottage was incredibly relaxing, and gave us the opportunity to enjoy a weekend together. We definitely plan on going back and supporting the great work that Yan and Sherry do.

Sherry and Yan are the most friendly, welcoming and loving people you will ever have the pleasure to be acquainted with. We stayed in the Birdhouse Cottage which was very charming and cozy with much to occupy oneself for those rainy days or much-needed solitude. The supper they prepared for us was outstanding and will have you coming back for more. The best thing about Piebird is the opportunity to make friends with the many and delightful non-human persons who reside there. Considering the amount of animal friends nearby, it was unbelievable how peaceful and quiet the cottage was. We can't wait to return to this peaceful paradise!

We had the pleasure of renting the cabin for the weekend. We were greeted by two furry friends ( cats) who spent the greater part of the weekend with us. We visited with our 9 month old and the cabin was surprisingly child friendly...minus the wood stove in the middle of the cabin which in my opinion is one of the cabin's best features if you don't mind keeping a baby away from it. We enjoyed a bookshelf full of great reads ( vegan cookbooks, fiction, non-fiction). The beds were divine! Everything we needed was there so we only needed to pack our food ( be aware that this is a vegan kitchen...a non-issue for us and hopefully anyone who decided stay). Be prepared to pack out your garbage which is encouraged especially if you are changing diapers or produce a lot of waste. We also enjoyed a tour of the sanctuary where we got to meet everyone. The power did go out while we were there ( first snowfall of the year) which meant no running water or heat other than the wood stove ( we were still toasty warm and were able to make due). We really enjoyed the quiet and time away. Sherry and Yan are wonderful hosts that are close enough if you need anything but they most definately do not impose.

My fiancee and I rented the Piebird Cottage for a week and arranged to get Married out in front of the Piebird main house. What a wonderful day in a beautiful setting. Sherry and Yan were excellent hosts and everyone attending our rustic wedding loved the setting. Having family stay around the corner at the South River Resort only enhanced the Piebird experience. We already plan on returning.

I am a bit slow in posting this - but in September I spent two weeks in the Birdhouse cottage in the hope of making some progress on a writing project. The cottage was perfect for this sort of activity! I was on my own for most of the time, and felt okay about that because I was in sight of the goat shed and the main house. It was deliciously quiet, with very little to distract me from my task (except goats, turkeys, hens, a rooster and several cats). Human company came to visit every once and awhile - using the second bedroom for a night or two, and topping up my food supplies. There was no internet access in the cottage, but if I walked a few paces toward the main house, I could get a connection (and I was welcome to come to house if I needed to). The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots etc, and I was invited to help myself to the apple mint growing at the side door (which I did regularly for a very fragrant tea). I am happy to report that I wrote 6,748 words - polishing off a book chapter that had been waiting too long to get finished. Now, at my home desk, when I want writing inspiration - I conjure up that lovely view from the cottage window - it is not as good as being there - but will have to keep me going until next time. Thank you again Sherry and Yan for creating and sharing such a beautiful, peaceful space.

We had high expectations for our 2 night stay at Piebird. When we first walked into the cottage there was a strong smell of must. We assumed it was from the windows not being open and the cottage not being aired out. We thought the place was very cute and cozy so we opened the windows; however the smell did not seem to go away. It seemed like the place hadn’t been occupied in at least a month. There was dust in every inch of the cottage and you could tell the cottage hadn’t been cleaned throughly in a long time. When we went to cook not all cooking utensils were clean and there was mouse poop in all the drawers and kitchen appliances (in the utensils drawer, in pots and pans etc.) The place is cute/vintage/farm stay type feel and it is a nice place, however, it was filthy and not appropriate to allow people to stay. ||||We were very unhappy with our stay and expected more cleanliness and a better accommodation considering the high price. The hosts were inconsiderate, considering they heard all of our complaints and didn’t seem to care nor did they do anything.
