Great spot to camp. Fellow campers have always been respectful and quiet. Bathrooms are pretty clean and convenient. Has shower facilities that take tokens, tokens can be purchased with $1 or $5 bills, does not accept quarters/change. Park staff is always friendly and knowledgeable:)

Was a campground. Close to bay and right off highway 1. Reasonably priced, no hookups, but has a water filling station right close to waste dump station. There is a small fee. Overall quiet and lots of room for walking and biking.

They need to update the bathrooms a bit. They were looking pretty rough when we went in Nov '24. Doran Beach, just a few miles away has much superior RR facilities.

This is a lovely quiet campground. The birds come and hangout with you in the morning. Access to the beach is so convenient.
Only issue is that the State Park needs help to remove an abandoned camper. I wonder if they checked for dead bodies.

Bodega Dunes is a beautiful campground and we loved our campsite. There are tons of quails, rabbits and deer running around. We also had the pleasure of seeing two horned owls just above our campsite on the second night! The bathrooms and showers are immaculately cleaned and the campground is kept up nicely as well. I love the dunes that divide some of the campsites. There are also some sites divided by thick trees and brush for privacy. We did notice a couple sites that backed up to residents backyards which seems like it would take away from the experience. Bodega beach is breathtaking and just up the road. We want to come back again, this campground is one of our favorites!

If you don't want to read my short story, I understand. Just know this: Our large, wheeled cooler was stolen from our campsite while we were sleeping. Please lock-up/secure anything you don't want stolen.

This is my 4th time camping at Bodega Dunes and 1st time with my wide and 2 young daughters. I would have given 5 stars (beautiful, quiet, close to trails and the beach), if it wasn't for an unfortunate incident: We were in Site 49, which was roomy, partially shaded, and had no sites across from us. What was across from us was a camp host and a trail that connects to Bay Flat Rd which intersects Westshore Rd. Before getting in our tent on the first night around 9 PM to watch a movie, we stored our valuables in our tent and in our locked vehicle and stored dry food, etc. in the site cabinet. The only items left outside were our 3 chairs, firewood, an axe, and out wheeled cooler stuffed with food and drinks (no alcohol). The next morning I walked out of our tent at around 7 AM to make some coffee. I went to get some creamer out of the cooler and noticed the cooler was not where we had left it by the table the night before. Our cooler was stolen while we were in our tent. After my wife and I calmed my 7-year-old daughter down, I reported the theft to a ranger who was conveniently driving by. The ranger, who was calm, patient, and helpful, told me that coolers are typically stolen because homeless people in the area are looking for alcohol. I laughed because all anyone was going to find was a bunch of home-made, healthy meals and sparkling waters. It didn't occur to me that homeless people could have stolen my cooler, as I typically don't think of homeless people around state campgrounds. I then explored the area surrounding the campground and discovered how easily someone could have walked into the campground from the public road. The area is surrounded by trees, bushes, grasses, and berry-vines. While this adds to the attraction of the whole area, it also creates an environment suitable for illegal camping and hiding, staking out, and storing stolen goods. We ended up turning our anticipated 3-night trip into an overnighter. We were all pretty bummed and didn't feel like spending another night after what had happened. I left my information with the ranger, who said he'd call if the cooler turned up. No calls as of the third day since the theft. I'm not writing this to speak ill of homeless people or the campground. I just want to make people aware what happened to us. In my 3 decades of camping, I've never had anything stolen and was more surprised than anything else. I checked the state park website for safety tips, and although there are many basic pieces of advice, none specifically mention cooler thefts.

Sweet little campground. It was pretty popular during the week in off season, so I imagine this gets pretty busy. Campfires are allowed, toilets and showers (need coins) are available.

We love this campground, our first time here.

I wish they would get rid of the smelly, scary trailer at site #66!!! It looks like ameth lab out of Breaking Bad. Abandoned trailer with license plates and orange spray paint. Very intimidating!
