Quickly becoming my favorite beach vacation spot! I love that this relatively quiet state park is basically on the beach! From my campsite to the beach is less than a 5 minute walk! You can beat being able to sleep in a tent and listen to the waves crashing at night! The biggest downfall is how close it is to the airport, so there is a fairly constant stream of airplane takeoff noise (LOUD!), but I found I quickly got used to it.
The campsite itself is beautiful, well shaded and well maintained. As a single solo female tent camper, I never felt in danger and had friendly neighbors each time I've been there! It's nice to see more tents popping up each time I go! The park is also dog friendly! The biggest tip I would give anyone, is if you're in a tent or need to stake anything down, BRING A HAMMER! The ground is rock solid! Also, ants, bring bug stuff!
It is nice to be able to be at a quiet camp and beach, and still be able to drive just 15 minutes north and be at the boardwalk with all the stuff for kids and family to do, or drive 15 minutes south and visit Litchfield Beach to find an abundance of whelks shells!

We really enjoyed our stay here on site 212. There's a lot for families to do here; playgrounds, nature walks, the beach, a pier, etc. The bathhouse was clean and the shower was decent. Full hookups with 50 amp service. I would have given 5 stars, but the airplanes taking off and landing. Very loud, even inside the camper.

While on vacation in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, we decided to go to the state park it was very close to the hotel we stayed in, and only about 10 minutes from the boardwalk area.
State Park is fun if you enjoy walking through forests and learning about local trees, plants, and animals. The ticket is $8 adults. And 5 and under free. Children $6 once you have your ticket, it's good for the whole day. You can even leave and come back in.
There is also a learning center for kids. It was closed on the day we went. The learning center is closed on Mondays.
There is a beach as well and more low-key and not so crowded. You can find some beautiful seashells there. There is also a pier ( closed right now for construction)
Overall, it is a great location & low-key spot. Walking trails are beautiful and information station all over to read and learn about nature.

Great statepark and campground. We stayed for a week and had an awesome time. Facilities were kept up with, and the staff was very friendly and always happy to see everyone. We did have a run-in with raccoons. They climbed on our roof, but we scared them away without issue. Airplanes do fly over fairly frequently, but it wasn't a problem for us as my wife, kids, and mother-in-law all enjoyed watching them and looking them up to see where they were going. Plan to visit again soon.

Very beautiful ❤️ I love how peaceful and calm it is and 8 dollars a day for all day is not bad. The water is fine, many seashells on the sand. Parking is spacious and easy. I would suggest if anyone wants to visit myrtle beach, come visit this location. This is a nice family vacation spot to visit ☺️

We recently visited Myrtle Beach State Park and had a good time overall. The beach is clean and well-maintained, and the $8 entry fee per adult is quite reasonable. The facilities include restrooms and showers, although I couldn't find a changing room, which was a bit inconvenient.

There were a few drawbacks, though. Firstly, I had issues with Verizon connectivity; it seemed non-existent, and I’m not sure if it was just me or a common issue there. Another concern was the rule against beach tents. We brought a small beach tent designed to provide shade and protection from the sun, but we were informed that such tents are prohibited across Myrtle Beach. Personally, I found this rule frustrating as it left me without adequate shade and resulted in a bad sunburn on the first day. On the second day, I sought refuge under the pier, which was a lifesaver and a great feature of the beach.

The beach was quite crowded, and the parking lot closest to the water was full, which made finding a spot challenging. Despite these issues, the beach itself was beautiful with fantastic water, and the natural surroundings were as stunning as always.

Overall, Myrtle Beach State Park is a nice place to visit if you’re prepared for some of the logistical challenges. The natural beauty and amenities make it worth a trip, though I hope they reconsider the tent policy for the comfort of all visitors.

My husband and I have tent camped here for a whole week on two separate occasions, August of 2019 and 2024. They really take care of the park. Staff is constantly cleaning, taking the trash out, cleaning fire pits, etc. The bathrooms are kept clean and cool. Camp store has plenty of basic needs. The check-in has been super easy each time, and the 0.10 mile walk to the beach is a breeze.
The nature center has some fun activities too.
Love how peaceful the park and their beach are. We save tons of money just camping and enjoy being near nature instead of the parking garages and hustling cityscape nearby.
We brought our Lectric Ebikes and rode around and even 1.5 miles out of the park to the disc golf range.
The worst part? The mosquitos are pretty bad, bug spray is a must, and a raccoon stole gummies I forgot I left in the tent

Excellent place to bike, camp, walk, hike, bird watch and enjoy the beach.

I visited Myrtle Beach SP to go bird watching. Plenty of parking and I walked several trails and visited the beach over three hours. The trails are easy and provide great wooded habitat and some pond/water areas. The Sculptured Oak Nature Trail and Yaupon Nature Trails are well maintained and easy to walk. In addition, there is a Activity Center which had great birding around it. Restrooms are available.
